MORE than 400 people flocked to The Redesdale on Saturday for an afternoon of unique food and live music.
The fifth annual Redesdale Camp Oven Cook-off attracted many competitors from far and wide as well as a distinguished panel of judges including former television chef Peter Russell-Clarke.
Teams of between four and six people, including some from Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, had to prepare their own camp fire site and several dishes for the judges.
There were two main categories - lamb and beef - and we had a wonderful diversity of entries. We had some traditional entries such as roasts, but we also had curries, Morrocan dishes and some inspired ideas from Asia.
Awards for the best damper and best cake were also handed out. Overall, there was over $1200 worth of prizes up for grabs.
The crowd was entertained by Rickety Bridge, a folk music band based in the district.
Special thanks to the local CFA unit who helped and benefited from the day through raffles and other donations.
Sponsors included Heat Beads®, Antler Luggage, AGA Australia, Redesdale Estate Vineyard and Hardwick's.
Special thanks to all involved for a wonderful day. Don't miss out next year!
